Ahahahaha that comment about The Sims is right. Really great instrumentation that is emotionally stronger than the elevator music kind of melodies it utilizes...I think mainly due in part to the great mixing and the heavy congas. I like the tag goodjob. Good job! <3

I completely accept and advocate extreme, random transitions. I start to find myself instead noticing the innovation in how they connect rather than how upsetting it may be...of course there's a right and wrong way to do transitions like this hahahahah. This was executed perfectly, put a lot of extra flavor into it and kept my mind interested and surprised. I cannot stress enough how I just want to be taken by you...to the bedroom...to dance to your music. Adding this to my library of you on my iTunes <3

I, personally, didn't think the key change was too extreme, but it was a key change, which, to be honest, isn't all that common in electronic music anyway - most tracks tend to stay in one key - but, oh well... they were essentially direct modulations, so I can see how they might have seemed abrupt

A CREEPY WALTZING WITH ELECTRONIC ELEMENTS!!!! My favorite!!!!!!! Aaaahhh the accordion, mon ami! I feel a little lame for commenting on this kinda late in the game, but wow what a nice find to see on the frontpage! Instrumentation is so perfecto! It changes up at all the right moments while keeping consistency and catchyness! To be nit-picky, despite its waltzing nature it's still being counted in fours in a syncopated way that emphasizes the last beat of the first four-count and then continues fourish for the second four-count. Basically, it's not quite a quintessential waltz in terms of rhythm, but damn it's still excellently eerie. I really love your use of sound effects being implemented too. The ambience of this definitely falls in the realm of music that really really is my absolute favorite...gosh I just think this is really one of the only pieces in this style on NG that is executed very well...though of course there's really barely any like this here anyways lol. I wish there were more electronic waltzing fusions, but alas! This is an outstanding song, has to now be one of my top favorites on here. Magnificent work!

Magnificoooo!!! Nice waltzing! Those instruments are so reaaal omg. Really love the beginning flute and bassoon conflict and love the part at around 01:00 where the wind instruments kind of rhythmically syncopate and the glockenspiel arrives. It's quite soft, I suppose to play as a support to a storyteller. This makes me think the Yanterflum is a huge, bulking creature that is actually quite even-tempered and refined. The Yanterflum gets more angered and heated in intellectual arguments rather than physical ones, as he quite obviously could best any creature who attempts to fight him head on. I see his grotto is tightly packed with books and gizmos, exemplifying that his intellect is even larger than himself. Really great song, though I think the silence at the end could be cut a bit...overall excellent work anyways!

WingoWinston responds:

I wholeheartedly agree with all of it. I couldn't have described what I imagined the Yanterflum to be any better. The silence at the end is of course an easy fix which I will get to very soon. The issue is a mix of human playback and a ritardando at the end which seemed to prolong what was two quarter rests at 140bpm lol,

Thanks for the generous review!

Yaaaaay circusy with a soft beat! Sounds like something I'd do hehahaheh. Nice ritard and creepy dissonance at the end, but there's that five seconds of dead space after that that could be cut shorter. I thought the organ being used as the main melodic line was kinda soft compared to the rest of the instrumentation, could be brought out. And conversely, perhaps the percussive line was a slight bit too loud or treble harsh, but I love its use so much anyways so I don't mind really. Overall a neat song that sets a mischievous and eerie mood. I really liked the harp part for some reason. I suppose the picture in my head for this cue is a young man being lead on a tour through a toy factory geared towards the modern day child, which disheartens him some as he sees how unimaginative the toys are. Nice work!

lordavocado responds:

Thanks very much for your feedback! I'm actually not sure where that silence came from; might've been a fluke from the upload process. But you're right, the perc is indeed a bit too harsh.. will dial it down for future use. :P I'm glad you enjoyed it on the whole!

I really really like the beat! And the guitar plucking in the right. Just thought the loopage was weird and would have liked more intense shifts with like dynamics...some intensely loud sting or riff on occasion to keep an instillation of fear. I also liked the high heel tapping...it made me imagine a character who is both divine and dangerous. Your other percussive sound effects were also really neat. Overall, I thought it was a good ambience that still had an upbeat nature, which I love. Actually sounds like a backing track to an alternative pop rock sort of song lol.

VERY NICE! Love the vocal sample used and how it's glitched so perfectly. Your drums are really really interesting as well. Wow...just some extraordinary shifts and changes of the same ethereal feeling. Sounds like a fabulously individual instrumental backing to an alternative pop song. The change at 2:07 where a breath is taken sort of takes away my breath for a moment in anticipation. Overall excellent work!

Please marry me my God mash my potatoes help me Lorddd <3333 I want to swing hop jitterbug with you and your musique foreverrr

Gonna go listen to the EP. But, I particularly like this piece...it has a great ambience and depth to it. I actually wish the first flute that comes in wasn't so worldly to the character, but it does its job and whatnot. It's just so subtle and calm...a great addition to the new World category. Fantastic job!

Thank you for your review ZipZipper! :)

Much more held together than that previous improv. Much much more. Really very nice melody. It turns so easily here. Both hands are interesting, or perhaps the generally constant change of chords masks the pulse of the left hand, which works just as well. I might just listen to this to learn what you're playing so I can really analyze it. Maybe even collab? I really love this style of music, I just can't get my hands off it. Very nice idea going on here, definitely could benefit from an elongation of more ideas.

drumdude responds:

To be fair, this isn't an improv. I love this type of music as well. Some of the music that started me playing piano was similar to this style.

Not entirely sure about a collab. I'm certainly open to it, but I have very little experience making music and 0 knowledge of theory, so I feel like I wouldn't be much use.

Thanks a lot for the review!

Just an awkward clown that showed up late to the clown pile. I love to provide goofy-spook music but I'm open to anyone that challenges my comfort zone. Send me details of your lifestory when you get the chance!
