Very nice.

The overall progression of the piece is well done. The instrumentation is spot on, though I was thinking that something else was going to double over the harp plucking other than the clarinet, like a piano or something. Structurally, everything about this is solid. It would just add a lot more dimension and flavor if you added some effects like reverb and echo to make it sound not as dry. It might also help to variate on the loudness of some parts because to me all the instruments sounded like they were at the same volume and so their sounds meshed together and nothing really stood out. It's like you've got the perfect bread and turkey but adding lettuce, tomato, and condiments would make the sandwich better. Anyways, great work!

Thank you for the thoughtful review! i plan to improve on these kinds of aspects in the future,as right now i have my hands full with other works im doing. i will eventually come back and remaster this. thanks again! :]

Wow.

This is fantastic. Has so many different elements and all of them have their own catchiness that when put all together it's just...one giant contagious catchy thing. It's not dragged out into oblivion either, which I like. It's just long enough to get each idea in effectively without wearing them out and yet keep it so that listeners will want to listen again. I'm reminded a little of Infected Mushroom, but that may be just because of one of the synths. But wow...this is really cool stuff. Great job.

"...one giant contagious catchy thing." I lol'd at that. XD Also thanks for the compliments! I'm glad you like it!

So...

I think it's all too flowing. Nothing really changes with any of the instruments and the unpredictability of the melody weaves everything together so much that it's boring. Though I do like that bouncy mystery to the unpredictable melody. It just needs to change up more, with the beat, with the melody, or perhaps save a synth to be added in later. There are some really simple changes that can be made that can easily fool ears into thinking some huge dynamic has spun in a different direction. You've got flow, you just need to take it even further. :)

Hey, thanks so much for the crit!
I'll try and mess around with it some more to fix it up (Still new at this whole music making thing, haha. And I hardly know how to effectively use FL studio yet as well)
Do you have any tips on how to fix it up? (Just send a note if you do, obviously)

Compelling

An odd pleasant feeling of rushing around the corridors, keeping an eye out for the servants as you snoop where you're not supposed to be snooping. This piece is soothing and quaint, and the repetitive strings make for the lovely ambiance. Will be great to hear fully loaded pieces.

AshleyAlyse responds:

Your thoughts are very precise as to how I imagined this song taking place in a castle. :) Thank you very much for the review! I appreciate it! :D I will inform you once it is fully complete. :)

Flyable.

I thought of the Monkey Target scenarios in the Monkey Ball games and how they just fly over a vast ocean in the middle of nowhere and could feel the same flying feeling in this (short) version of the song, even though you say on a cloud. I really like it. Would be cool to hear a full version too I guess, but this is pretty solid as it is too.

alvys18 responds:

Yeah totally man! I can see it being used in that type of game! Thank you!!! I'll try to post the finished version soon :)

Sensational.

A wonderful style of drum n bass. With soft, mellow synths half-quietly humming an ethereal melody as the drum n bass take more of a lead without being too overpowering. I really like this. It's one kind of electronic music that really catches me. Great work!

skullshock responds:

much appreciated :D i'm trying to avoid doing the given thing if you know what i mean. im trying to experiment with new techniques. keep an eye on this page for the completed version and keep listening! :D

Nice.

It's like a heavy tango, since the sound can be overwhelming when the rolling drums enter, though I like and kind of dislike that fullness. Otherwise it stays true to a lovely tango or cabaret aura. Cool old work!

GV14982 responds:

Yeah, I felt like there was something a little off, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it, so I just left it :) Thanks for listening and reviewing!

So...

I really appreciate the slightness of the underlying strings, they add power to the piano The sound of the piano is nice too, though I sort of thought the key change was...a bit unsettling but once it got back in the groove it evened out that feeling. There's a hint of emptiness in this, a drag on the melodies that loses me as a listener. But the orchestration is perfect. The coupled woodwinds and strings with the piano in front are magical. Perhaps a need to take the orchestration even further to enhance the sound. Great work!

pftq responds:

Yes, I agree with the emptiness and key change - was the part that bugged me most too but couldn't figure out how to fix. Will take your suggestions to mind, thanks!

Oh.

Your voice is very pleasurable to listen to. Very...pleasurable...

Nice little cute ditty, though I can't say I'm a Brony, but I like what came out of your inspiration from it...hee-haw.

AEPfx responds:

Thank you so much, I just started watching to see what all the fuss was about and it was surprisingly really funny.

Mmmmmzzzzzzzz.

I like this. It's different. It's sort of unpredictable. I like the driving tick tock groove that keeps the piece up. The instrumentation is perfect and the melodies all fit together nicely. In my opinion, I don't feel a lullaby aura, but a waiting-in-a-waiting-room sort of aura. A cutely nervous feel. Excellent job!

Decibel7 responds:

Ah perhaps you're right. I was tired and couldn't sleep so I wrote this to help. It did!

Just an awkward clown that showed up late to the clown pile. I love to provide goofy-spook music but I'm open to anyone that challenges my comfort zone. Send me details of your lifestory when you get the chance!
