Excellent! Your voice is nice for an a cappella swing like this. The only thing I think was iffy was that the background aahhing was existing in the same space as the lyrics, which lost what you were saying. Maybe if the lyrical parts were panned closer to the front, it would be more understandable. And to be nit-pickedy, there's some coming in issues with tempo, but whatever. I like the ending and the harmonies are soulful. Great work!

Oh hey...I feel like I knew you were on this site, but I forgot...
This is neat. The skipping record quality of some of the notes is a nice touch, but sometimes overwhelming. The piano and the guitar sound great together, and that pan flute thing that comes in also works very well. The melody is gypsyesque...so I'm picturing some drums being played along with this, in a worldly sense or in a carnival sense. Overall, I think this could pop even more with some extra touches like drums, or even an eerie violin line. But it's still a cool little piece here, Mr. RazbaqueDirge. Nice job!

If you say it's a DVD menu screen songish thing, shouldn't it loop? Especially with something so short. The instrumentation is cool, and the reverb on it is nice. The melody itself is strolling and calm. I was envisioning a heavier string line; something to back up the cello so it doesn't sound as empty. That would make it perfect. I think the biggest thing lacking is just the idea itself could be longer and looped. In the department of instrumentation, yeah there could be more parts added, like chimes, pizzicato strings, a soft French horn. But, the simplicity of this instrumentation is actually quite captivating too. Overall, it just needs further expansion or the ability to loop cleanly. Hope this was helpful in some way and good work!

Just noticed it says "No HTML, por favor." when I reply to reviews haha.

Well the piece isn't complete yet which is why I haven't looped it yet. I just wanted some quick feedback - which you have so graciously done - and then I'd get back to work on it. The cello is a little hollow, this song was partially a test for my new EWQL samples. I suppose I can use more now :P

Cheers

pfff. Not gross. It is quite ambient...a breakbeat ambient. Or maybe a little DnB. I guess it's a bit like dubstep because of its 2-step beat rhythm, though I'd think it more of the former mentioned genres. It goes on like an ambient piece and stays true to an aura. There are some really cool reverb effects going on here that give me a sense of an ethereal world; a dystopia? Night life? So perhaps a harem world. I just think that the melodies lull on a little without anything slightly different. Everything meshes together maybe too well? I dunno. I still appreciate it. Good work!

Thanks.

I'm LOVING the atmosphere of this. It's so extremely interesting. The idea is just so good that I really really wish it would go on into a full blown song, whether it be electronic, alternative pop, or epic soundtrack. Because this sounds like a captivating introduction into a really cool piece and this is probably the first time I've ever truly wanted a concise song to be taken further; usually short and sweet tracks are suitable for me. The mystery behind the hidden door is silently screaming in this piece and I'm just so anxious to know what's on the other side! Either way, this is wonderful work. Instrumentation is unique as well as the mystical melodies, tied with the subtle beat makes this song perfect. GREAT job! I am sincerely impressed whether you choose to expand this or not.

I made more like this ull just have to look for them, they are named after dreams and astral projections and other names

Ahhh. This reminds me of the music in Brave Fencer Musashi and also the music in a random Yu-Gi-Oh video game for GameCube that I enjoyed once upon a time...both are rather old things. And your song here has captured the genuine warmness I felt in both. This piece has so much nostalgia in it. I wish soundtrack instrumentation was more simple and innocent like this. The whimsical anxiety of a child constructing ideas in an unstable imagination. It's perfect for the game it's in; it helps you concentrate while also making you nervous. Excellent work here!

SilentTakedown responds:

Thanks a lot!

Holy crap. That is wicked good! Wow...although you said you only listened to their music as research, that's a lot of research to me! You seriously represented the country flawlessly. I'm dying at the waltzing bits. They are extraordinary! The chord progression on those bits is quite reminiscent of a valse musette. And I definitely feel the solo electric piano bit with the drums. Soothingly jazzy and yet anxious with its slightly dark tonality, maybe dissonant? A note is clashing that makes it very interesting. I enjoyed this piece greatly. Excellent work!

camoshark responds:

Wow man, thanks for the review, I'm glad you enjoyed!

An unusual inspiration, but pictured perfectly in this piece. I think it captures a sort of innocence in thinking up a strategy...the first thing that came to mind was Scrabble, but that's dreadfully agitating to me. No, this is peaceful, like marbles...because marbles are peaceful (?) Anyways, it reminds me of the music during a 'The Sims' loading screen. Or when you buy furniture for your house. Overall a flawless ditty and a creative, cute song. Nice work!

BenTibbetts responds:

That's interesting. I think of marbles as relatively violent compared to Scrabble. Thank you for the review.

...what is that instrument? It's not a guitar is it? It has an extremely interesting twang to it. It is quite neofolk and captivating. Would love to hear it strumming violently. Or waltzlike. A quick waltz or some riffraff fast step would be ecstatic. This is a cool little intro. Perhaps some worldly bongos or other such drum would fit well...a pan flute or violin too. Well...good luck on your album. This intro keeps me interested, so great work!

AtomicAgeVampire138 responds:

Thank you for such a positive review!
Yes, it's actually an eccentric guitar I picked up for $15 at a local thrift store (G-135? Can't really find too much information on the model), & everything was played on just it (including the swells, which I used an eBow to create).
Need to get more instruments!

I do enjoy the progressiveness of this all, how it's all flowing together and not split into parts, it's just one big build up and die down. That in itself is also a weakness as well as a strength. I also thought that the 'clap' in the drum beat was harsh and the war drums in the beginning too. I personally would have made both of them absent, or slightly syncopated, for a couple of beats to trick the ear a little bit. The strings I thought could be more enhanced, or have greater change in velocity, like bigger crescendos. Other than that, everything else sounds fantastic. As it is, it's like an intriguing, epic introduction to an alternative soundtrack piece. I really like it. It's a very cool little song. Great work!

Nmanif responds:

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. I do need to go back and change pretty much everything that you mentioned...however I think I'm gonna keep the war drums in. I'll change them a bit, but I personally like them. This is very much a work in progress, so thank you for helping me improve it!

Cheers!

Just an awkward clown that showed up late to the clown pile. I love to provide goofy-spook music but I'm open to anyone that challenges my comfort zone. Send me details of your lifestory when you get the chance!
